Profile of Sifu Ho

Sifu Ho Liang-Xin was born in Dong Ma Ling village in the Guangdong Province of Southern China. His interest in Martial Arts began at an early age as he started Wing Chun training at the age of 10. Until now, Sifu Ho has been training in Wing Chun for 56 years.  Today, his Wing Chun School is located near Shunfengshan Park, China.

In 1960, Wing Chun master, Chan Kar Lim (Grandson of Chan Wha Sun), opened a Wing Chun School in Dong Ma Ling village, Shunde. Sifu Ho at the age of 10 years old joined the school and started his training with Master Chan. In 1966, at the age of 16, Sifu Ho completed and won the traditional Chinese Wushu Championship together with Chan Kwok Kay (The great grandson of Chan Wha Sun). In the late 60s, due to the poor economy and a cultural revolution in China, most of Master Chan’s students moved to Hong Kong for work. Master Chan was forced to close the school down.

After the shutdown of Chan’s Wing Chun school, Ho continued his Wing Chun training with Master Tam Woon Biu (The fifth generation of Great Grandmaster Chan Wha Sun). He became his disciple and official student in 1968. He then learnt Shunde Chan Wha Sun Wing Chun in depth from his Sifu Tam Woon Biu. From 1970 to 1980, Sifu Ho put his Wing Chun into practice and accepted many challenges from different schools and won most of the fights. Since then, Ho was recognised as the most experience living representative of Wing Chun in the local area in Shunde.

Sifu Ho began to teach Wing Chun in 1974.  Ho’s unrivalled skills and his contribution to the Wing Chun culture have been reported by many of the media including Nafang daily, Southern Urban Daily and GuangZhou daily. In 2009, famous director Karwai Wong paid a visit to Sifu Ho and Sifu Tam for a consultation to improve the quality of the movie “The Grandmaster”.  Sifu Ho has taught Wing Chun to more than15000 people, and has had more than 200 disciple students.  Ho wishes to promote and pass the Chan Wha Sun Wing Chun legacy to the next generation in his old age.
